Ms. Charlton grew up on a farm in Crowell, Texas. She graduated from Crowell High School in 1971. She received a Bachelors of Arts in English with a minor in Spanish from Tarleton State University in 1975. She received another minor and teaching field in journalism from Texas Tech University in 1976. After 20 years of teaching English, she then switched gears and got teaching certificates in theatre and speech. She is in her 32nd year of teaching, the last 10 being at Palacios High School. She considers Palacios ISD her favorite teaching job of the several she has had in Texas.
"Palacios ISD is a tremendous school district. The administrators and school board are extremely professional. The students are the best around. The facilities can't be beat. And an added benefit is the cozy town of Palacios, surrounded by a bay with many recreational offerings."
